Black art is just as sacred as black love, in my opinion. If you’ve ever noticed, artists of Africana (as my grandmother loves to call it) decent are usually the ones that provide that eccentric and eclectic taste to modern art culture– whether it be through inspiration or the actuality of creating.. and what it is they create.
Something that I find intriguing mostly with the new artistry of today is the unique way of approaching abstract art and coining style that makes an artist an individual. Virginia Beach based visual artist Parrish Majestic, also known as 0hpm, is of those mastermind’s that utilizes his imagination to the fullest, producing pieces that start on canvas and end up attached to a fixture used as decorative art.
0hpm’s latest creations fall in line with his orientally-inspired originality, also including triangular shaped fixtures with his work attached. He offered a few words to go along with his brief exhibit, which can be seen below.
I’m a visual artist from Queens, NY. I started learning the basics of creation/creating things from my dad at an early age.. watching him draw, paint, build models, etc. My main inspiration would be to inspire and teach the next generation. If people were seeing my work for the first time, I would want them to know that I’m painting to strike there emotion and influence positivity for the next generation.
As an artist, I create everyday to influence my viewers to a positive mindstate. Before each piece is made, the intent I’m giving it is love, peace, and happiness. Patience is a virtue.. and hard work pays off. These words best describe me and my work.
